Shah Alam is Selangor's state capital: a planned city of numbered seksyens, wide roads, lakes and parks. It is home to UiTM's main campus, several other universities, the state government offices and a large industrial base. That mix keeps rental demand steady from students, young workers and families, while buyers are drawn by prices that are generally lower than Petaling Jaya or Subang Jaya.

Getting around
The biggest recent change is rail. The LRT3 Shah Alam Line opened on 29 June 2026, running from Bandar Utama to Johan Setia in Klang. Stops in Shah Alam include Stadium Shah Alam and UiTM Shah Alam. You can change to the Kelana Jaya Line at Glenmarie and to the MRT Kajang Line at Bandar Utama, which makes commuting to KL and PJ without a car realistic from many parts of Shah Alam.
The KTM Port Klang Line also runs through the city, with stations at Padang Jawa, Shah Alam and Batu Tiga. For drivers, the Federal Highway and NKVE cover the KL and Klang direction, KESAS and ELITE serve the southern seksyens, and the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) links the northern townships.
