Living in Cheras

Neighbourhoods, transport, amenities and typical prices in one of KL's biggest and best-connected suburbs.

Last updated: 16 Oct 2026

Cheras is a huge suburb stretching south-east from central KL towards Kajang, across both Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. The KL side has established neighbourhoods such as Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Bandar Tun Razak, Taman Connaught and Taman Midah, while further out on the Selangor side are townships such as Bandar Mahkota Cheras and Alam Damai. The MRT and LRT, plenty of malls and prices below the city centre make it one of the most popular places in the Klang Valley for families.
